More About Kaden Scott

Artist, Designer, Creative Prolific

“I honestly don’t recall a time when I’ve not been completely immersed in and energized by the power of creativity and design.”  - Scott Neste

Raised in a small Midwestern town by creative parents, Scott Neste was always afforded the opportunity to try, to create, to express.  His Mother, a Home Economist and his Father, a Fine Menswear Retailer were and are the kind of people who don’t let much grass grow under their feet.  Creative opportunities were never far away whether it was helping his Dad refinish countless antiques in the basement shop or helping Mom pick out fabric for her hand sewn couture fall wardrobe, Scott was included…and learned a great deal along the way.

At age 13, Scott was exposed to the art of Visual Display Merchandising during family trips to the city.  Mesmerized by the dreamy scenes he took in, Scott begged his Dad to let him take over the window displays and store layout at his Father’s haberdashery.   Delighted by a “yes” the work began and continued for years.  This immersion into the world of visual presentation and retail design whet his appetite for the visual arts as well as business.

Graduating with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Organizational Communications and Psychology Scott relocated to the Pacific Northwest.  His passions eventually lead him to join an international retail home furnishings chain where he flourished for nearly 12 years.  As a District Manager he oversaw as many as fourteen stores in Western Washington.  Leadership training, team building, management coaching, recruiting, visual merchandising and sales training all fell under his purview.

In 1999 Scott decided to further explore his passion for building strong teams, systems and workplaces when he chose a new path as a Human Resource Director with a clinical research organization based in Tacoma and Chicago.  This amazing opportunity further honed his leadership and business skills as he quickly learned about the business of late phase clinical trials and the world of research.  During the second year of his tenure, Scott was asked to commute to the Chicago area to help the recently merged company create a strong HR team for their growing staff of 300 employees in Washington, Oregon, Idaho to Illinois.  At the end of the assignment Scott decided to stay in the Pacific Northwest and pursue the dream that had been tugging at his heart for some time…to work as a designer.

In January 2001, Minor Details launched with the support of a number of very loyal clients.

“The path of any small business can be a circuitous one but the profound blessing of getting to do what you feel you were born to do every single day - living out your passion -  is one I don’t take for granted!  Some have said – Find what you love to do then go and do just that.  I’m grateful every day that I get to live out my dreams and make a difference in how people experience their homes and workspaces.” - Scott Neste
